The Albright College women's tennis team took the two closest points of the day as the Lions won their Commonwealth Conference opener 5-4 at Arcadia on Thursday.
Freshman
Alyssa Sell won a three-set decision at second singles, defeating
Dominique Canale 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. At third doubles,
Nazma Ali and
Abby Walke outlasted their opponents 9-7.
Sophomore
Victoria Foanio won at both first singles and first doubles, teaming with
Christina Peacock for the victory in her doubles match.
Also winning for Albright was
Melissa Carberry, with a 6-2, 6-1 decision at fifth singles.
The Lions won without one of their top three players- senior
Katy Oeste.
Albright is 5-6, 1-0 and will look to continue its positive Commonwealth start with a trip to Lycoming next Thursday.
