Delaware Valley jumped out to a 42-0 lead as the Albright College football team dropped a second consecutive game, 42-21 on Saturday in Doylestown, Pa.
Senior running back
Ty Hughes reached the century mark for the third time this season, gaining exactly 100 yards on 21 carries.
Scott Pillar had nine catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback
TJ Luddy had one interception and no TD passes, but continued to throw for high percentage with 14-of-25 passing.
For DVC, sophomore quarterback
Aaron Wilmer set a school record with six touchdown passes, and threw for 282 yards on 13-of-20 completions. Wide receiver
Lewis Vincent had a huge day with 203 yards and two scores, on just five receptions. Running back
Kyle Schuberth rushed 15 times for 80 yards.
On defense, cornerback
Levi Myers led the way with eight total tackles, and safety
Drew Peterson intercepted his third pass of the season (and seventh in two seasons). Senior linebacker
Tim McCaffrey worked his way into the rotation and had seven tackles, three for loss, and two forced fumbles.
The Lions forced four fumbles on the day, with linebacker
Matt Filosa recovering two and nose tackles
Quashon Mayes falling on the other.
Hunter Riggs also forced a fumble.
The Aggies jumped all over Albright, scoring touchdowns on their first four drives to open up a 28-0 advantage. The Lions took the opening kickoff and drove to the opposing 20-yard line, but a 37-yard field goal try from freshman
Daniel Sobolewski went wide.
Down 28-0, Albright's offense got going again by grinding it out on the ground. Hughes rushed for 13 yards, and then gained two more first downs. The momentum was halted however, as Luddy's pass was picked off by
Chris Vega.
Down 42-0 with 12 minutes to play,
Adam Galczynski found
Eric Wade for 33 yards. A 13-yard Hughes rush set up Pillar's eight yard touchdown grab, getting the Lions on the board.
After Riggs forced a fumble, Galczynski found
Daniel McNair for 18 yards and a score. The final Albright touchdown came on Filosa's 14-yard fumble return into the end zone.
Albright falls to 3-2, 2-2 and has a bye week before hosting FDU-Florham on October 13.
