The Albright College women's basketball team opens up its 2013-14 season this weekend at Centenary's Lady Cyclone Tip-Off Tournament, with a familiar face coaching the hosts.

Schedule

Albright plays the College of St. Elizabeth at 6 p.m. on Friday night, while Centenary hosts Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the consolation game will be held at 1 p.m., with the championship to follow at 3 p.m.

Albright College Lions (0-0)

The Lions went 11-14 last season behind rookie Kelecia Harris- the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region and ECAC South Rookie of the Year and a member of DIII News' national All-Freshman team.

Harris led the nation in shooting percentage during the regular season, at 59.6%. Her 57 total blocks and 2.48 blocks per game both ranked second all-time at Albright, and her 243 rebounds placed her third-best in the school single-season record books.

Also returning is junior shooting guard Jessica Venturelli, who has started all 50 games since coming to Albright. She averaged 7.5 ppg in 2012-13 while shooting 72.4% from the free throw line and 34.1% from behind the arc.

Senior forward Meghan Boyle is a four-year starter in the post, and enters her final season with 690 points and 604 rebounds in her career. Rounding out the projected starting lineup is senior point guard Kristi McFadden and freshman Shannon Thomas.

The Lions will have great depth in the post behind Harris and Boyle. Senior Shawn Barczynski is an asset on the boards, while sophomores Emily O'Donnell and Kadijah Bishop showed potential in their rookie season as well.

College of St. Elizabeth Eagles (0-0)

The Screaming Eagles went 11-14 in 2012-13, earning an NEAC playoff berth. They were defeated by Penn State Harrisburg 79-73 in the conference quarterfinals. Senior Cheyenne Grant returns after leading the team in scoring last season (12.4 ppg).

Centenary College Cyclones (0-0)

Host Centenary is led by second-year head coach Rachel Weidensaul, who was an assistant for five years at Albright before taking over in New Jersey. She served as acting head coach for four games while Albright coach Janice Luck was on maternity leave in 2010-11, compiling a 2-2 record. The Cyclones went 8-17 in her first season.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Mountain Lions (1-1)

The Mountain Lions are 1-1 on the season, losing to Davis College 68-60 before an easy 60-25 win over Luzerne County Community College.

Senior Tiaira Brathwaite returns after earning USCAA All-American honors in 2012-13. She averaged 17.1 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest last season.
