The Red and White opened the game on the free throw line after a pregame Berks technical foul, and led 1-0 when Marrella dropped in his second shot.

PSU-Berks led for most of the opening eight-plus minutes, until Evan Ward tied the game at 15-15 with a pair of free throws. The next time down the floor, Perez converted a three-point play.

Junior Devin Brown sank a three-pointer, and Ward followed with a lay-in for a 23-17 Albright lead. Freshman Josh Marquez soon gave the Lions their first double-digit lead, 29-19, with a three-pointer.

Former Albright player Christian Burggraf was in the starting lineup and scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. He was one of four Nittany Lion starters in double-figures, joining Tom Smith (16), Dameon Nixon (16) and Darren Major (12).

Albright is 1-1 on the season and will open up Commonwealth Conference play at home Tuesday to Messiah (7 p.m.).
