The Albright College men's basketball team couldn't hold onto a halftime lead on the road, losing 69-63 at Misericordia University on Saturday.
Senior
Pedro Perez led the Lions for the second straight game, finishing with 22 points and making 4-of-7 attempts from behind the arc.
Freshman
Sameen Swint added 13 points and three steals. Sophomore
Calvert Gantz also had 13 points to go with five rebounds.
Albright held the hosts to just 10-of-29 (34.5%) first half shooting and one three-pointer to lead 29-25 at the break. Misericordia shot 57.7% in the second period however.
Kyle Jordan and Gantz scored early baskets to give Albright a 6-0 start, although the Cougars responded with an 8-0 run to take back the lead.
Swint and MU's
Joe Busacca traded baskets late in the first half, and Perez hit two free throws in the final minute to give the Lions a four-point advantage heading into the locker room.
Gantz's jumper with 17:36 remaining gave Albright its biggest lead of the day, 38-29.
The Cougars began to chip away, although the Red and White held the lead until Busacca tied the game at 46-all with 10:02 remaining and then scored to take the lead less than a minute later.
Busacca finished with 15 points for Misericordia, while
Steve Ware had a double-double with 17 points (7-of-11) and 11 boards.
Albright falls to 1-3 on the season and will host Arcadia on Wednesday in Commonwealth Conference action. Misericordia is 3-2 on the year.
