Victoria Foanio won at first singles, but the Albright College women's tennis team was beaten 8-1 by defending league champion Elizabethtown on Saturday.
Foanio re-affirmed her place at the conference's top player, recovering from an opening-set loss to grab a hard-fought 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 decision over Madison Pipkin.
Sophomore
Alyssa Sell gave number-two
Allison Burkhardt a run in the first set, losing by a 6-4, 6-1 scoreline.
Foanio and Sell also challenged at first doubles, with Pipkin/Burkhardt taking an 8-2 decision.
Melissa Carberry and
Elizabeth Bengtsson lost 8-2 at second doubles. Bengtsson was beaten 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth singles spot, while teammate
Erin Sullivan lost 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles.
Albright is 8-5, 1-3, and will look to get back on the winning track in conference play with a trip to Lycoming next weekend.
