The Albright College women's tennis team grabbed its first conference victory of the spring, beating Hood College 6-3 at home on Saturday.

Victoria Foanio faced a battle from Hood's Emily Maerz at first singles, eventually prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. In another tough matchup, sophomore Alyssa Sell beat Olivia Hosch 6-3, 6-2.

In the top doubles matchup, Sell and Foanio teamed to beat Maerz/Hosch 8-4.

Erin Sullivan won 6-4, 6-3 in the fifth spot. Also winning a tough singles match was Melissa Carberry, in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).

Freshman Elizabeth Bengtsson also went three sets at fourth singles, losing 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. She teamed with Carberry for an 8-5 decision at second singles.

Albright improves to 8-3, 1-1 and will continue its quest for a second consecutive Commonwealth playoff berth with a trip to Alvernia on Tuesday.
