Men's Basketball Pulls Away Late for 71-61 Win at Lycoming

In a game between two teams that were never separated by more than two possessions until the final five minutes, Albright ran away late for a 71-61 victory at Lycoming.

Senior Kyle Jordan had a huge double-double with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Freshman Sameen Swint added 16 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Evan Ward just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards. Reuel Moore (six points) and Devin Brown (five points) also contributed off the bench for Albright, while freshman Josh Marquez had seven assists.

The teams were close throughout the first half, with neither side leading by more than six points. The largest lead came at halftime, with Michael Rudy's put-back giving Lycoming a 33-27 halftime advantage.

The hosts had ended the first half on an 11-2 run, after Jordan's basket gave Albright a 25-22 lead with 4:48 left in the period.

Kevin Anthony made it 30-25 Lycoming on the break. Ward scored on the fast break to cut it to three, but it was Albright's only field goal down the stretch of the first half.

Swint's jumper midway through the period had put Albright ahead 13-9. Senior Moore canned a triple with 5:56 remaining to make it 23-18 Lions.

The game stayed tight throughout the second with neither team leading by more than the six-point gap that Lyco carried out of halftime, until the final five minutes.

Jordan's three-point play cut the deficit to one, 35-34. Lycoming went back up by five on several occasions, but Albright surged ahead 48-47 with 9:52 remaining on another basket from Jordan.

Brown's three-pointer soon gave the Lions a 51-49 advantage, and Jordan pushed it to 53-49 from the free throw line.

Pedro Perez scored to give Albright a 57-52 lead with 4:35 remaining, and another put-back from Jordan gave the Lions their largest lead of the day to that point- 59-52.

The Lions hit the halfway point of the Commonwealth schedule with a record of 5-4 (9-7 overall). Albright is one game ahead of Elizabethtown for the fifth place spot, and one game behind Alvernia and Hood.
