Kendra Delgado's goal in the second half was not enough as Albright College fell 3-1 at Kings College in non-league field hockey action Thursday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium. Â
The Lions (1-14) earned back to back penalty corners by
Mackenzie Faight, the second one leading to an
Amanda Smith shot which was followed immediately by Delgado who sent home her second of the season from Smith at 53:42 to make it a 3-1 game.
Bianna DiMaggio opened the scoring at the 18:07 mark of the first half form Meghan Lermond, the two combined again just over a minute later to double Kings' advantage off a corner at 19:13.
Albright was held without a shot in the first 35 minutes, Kings (7-7) registered nine shots and held a 9-2 edge in penalty corners.
Gabby Frakes made three saves in the net for the Lions.
The Albright defense held tough throughout the contest blocking seven shots, but Kings added a third goal in the 51
st minute.
Delgado's tally put the Lions on the board and ended the scoring. Smith registered a shot on goal for Albright in the final minute of play.
Albright earned five second half corners to only two for Kings, both teams registered three shots on net in the second half.
Frakes finished with five saves, Paige Tedik registered two saves in goal for the Monarch's.
The Lions return home to Shirk Stadium to host Hood College in Commonwealth Conference action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
