CHESTER, Pa. – Albright College women's soccer surrendered two late goals and dropped a key 2-0 decision at Widener University in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
The loss keeps the Lions (7-9-1, 3-4 CC) from securing a post season spot as the Pride (5-8-3, 2-4-1) move within two points of the fifth spot in the commonwealth with the victory. The top five teams make the tournament, with the fourth place team hosting the fifth in a play in game to take on the number one seed.
Albright with nine points would guarantee a spot in the play-in game on Monday November 3, with a victory on Wednesday night when they host Arcadia (13-4, 4-2 CC) who sit in fourth place in the conference with 12 points. The Lions would also make the tournament with a tie or loss by Widener who travel to Lycoming next Saturday. Albright still has a chance to take fourth place and host Arcadia with a win and loss by the Knights who finish its season hosting No.1 Messiah next Saturday.
Widener scored the winning goal in the 79
th minute courtesy of senior Jenna Pedrick who deflected in a cross to break the scoreless tie.
The Pride added a second goal in less than four minutes later as Erica McDonough put the game away into the left hand corner of the net from 10 yards out to make a 2-0 game.

Jaymee Stepp made four saves in goal for the Lions to keep the game scoreless at the half. 
Emily Sousa registered a shot on goal for Albright in the first half, who held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Lyra Biancamano fired a shot wide for the only other shot of the contest for the Lions. The Pride put four shots at the net in the second half, and held a 9-3 edge at games' end.
Stepp made five saves, while Olivia Pfautz made two saves for the shutout victory for Widener.
Wednedauy night will be Senior Night at Shirk Stadium when the Lions host the all important battle with Arcadia 
at 7 p.m
