Women's Soccer Suffers Heartbreaking Loss at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. -- The Albright College women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Lebanon Valley in overtime at Herbert Field in a Commonwealth Conference match on Tuesday.

With the Lions clinging to a 1-0 lead, Lebanon Valley got the equalizer with only 2:17 remaining to send the match into extra time. In the overtime session, Sammy Bost scored at the 95:24 mark giving the Dutchmen an improbable victory.

Albright, which dropped to 5-6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play, got on the board in the first half when Emily Sousa scored her sixth goal of the season on a ball reversal from Crissy Terraces at the 25:05 mark.

Despite being outshot, the Lions managed to hold the lead until Meghan Ross knocked home a rebound shot at the 87:43 mark of the match to knot the score at 1-1.

The Dutchmen then got the winner in overtime to improve to 9-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Commonwealth Conference.

Lebanon Valley outshot the Lions 36-2 and had 11 corner kicks compared to two for Albright.

Jaymee Stepp made a season-high 15 saves in net for the Lions including seven saves in both the first and second halves.

Albright returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 11) when it hosts Lycoming in a Commonwealth Conference match beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
