Albright Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Game to Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. -- Junior Amanda Smith tallied a first-half goal, but Immaculata scored with just over five minues to play in regulation lifting the Mighty Macs to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Albright on Thursday at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Smith scored her team-leading third goal of the season just before halftime to tie the score at 1-1. Smith carried in the ball from outside the circle and beat Sarah Pasternak at the 32:13 mark of the match.

Albright, which fell to 1-12 with the loss, dominated the middle portion of the second half. Pasternak made two saves on Smith at the 47 minute mark and another on a shot by Lynn Risley at the 49:31 mark.

Two more Albright shots were turned away and Immaculata then got the game-winning goal by Ashley O'Donnell at the 64:25 mark of the match as she carried the ball in from midfield.

Albright generated two more scoring opportunites late, as Pasternak made saves on Smith and Mackenzie Faight.

Immaculata, which improved its record to 5-8 with the victory, took a 1-0 lead when O'Donnell scored off of a corner on an assist by Tiffany Lockfield.

Smith had eight shots to lead the Lions, while Tracy Snyder had six shots and Samantha Martin recorded two shots.

Senior Gabby Frake made four saves in net for Albright in her 70 minutes of action.

Albright returns to Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday (Oct. 11) when it visits Arcadia for a 12 p.m. game.
