Albright Set to Host Holiday Tournament

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball team will host the annual Albright Holiday Tournament on Dec. 29-30 in the Bollman Center.

Albright, Buena Vista, Delaware Valley and Hartwick will compete for the tournament championship beginning on Monday (Dec. 29).

Buena Vista and Delaware Valley will meet in the opening game of the tournament at 2 p.m. and Albright will tangle with Hartwick at 4 p.m.

The two winners will meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 30) for the tournament championship, which will be proceeded by the consolation game at 2 p.m.

This marks the eighth Holiday Tournament and Albright has posted an 11-3 record in the previous seven tournaments. The Lions have posted a 7-0 record in opening-round games and have played in the tournament championship in each year.

Albright enters the tournament with a 4-4 overall record and lost to Franklin & Marshall in its last game on Dec. 13. The Lions are currently 3-1 at home this season and have an average winning margin of 17.3 points in their home victories.

Albright's opening round opponent Hartwick enters the tournament with a 4-3 overall record and has won three of its last four games. The Hawks, under the direction of head coach Todd McGuinness, have advanced to the NCAA Tournament in three of the past four seasons.

Delaware Valley enters the Holiday Tournament with the top record of the participants with a 6-4 overall record. The Aggies enter the tournament as the top three-point shooting team in the Freedom Conference.

Buena Vista, which is located in Storm Lake, Iowa, is currently 5-4 on the season and routed Bethany Lutheran in its most recent game. Beaver head coach Brian Van Haaften has led Buena Vista to a winning record in 17 of his 18 seasons.
