The Albright College men's basketball team hopes to emerge from a complicated playoff race on Senior Day in the Bollman Center.

Commonwealth Standings

The only certain thing about the Commonwealth playoff race heading into the final day is that Hood will be the #4 seed and host a play-in game. Albright is one of four teams (Lycoming, Lebanon Valley, Widener) that could all conceivably tie for the fifth and final playoff spot. If head-to-head records are even, then the next tiebreaker is the highest team beaten in the standings. That has thrown the scenarios further into chaos, with Messiah, Alvernia and Stevenson all in the mix for first place.

The Lions' easiest path to the playoffs is a win combined with either a Lycoming loss vs. Hood (giving Albright sole possession of fifth place) or a Messiah loss at Alvernia. If Lycoming and Messiah both win, Lyco has the tiebreaker from having beaten first place Messiah. Ironically the Lions are rooting for their crosstown rivals however, with an Alvernia win handing first place to either the Crusaders or Stevenson (Albright has the tiebreaker in both scenarios).

If Albright loses, the Lions will still make the playoffs if Hood beats Lycoming, Stevenson beats Lebanon Valley, and either Alvernia beats Messiah or Widener beats Arcadia.

Albright College Lions (12-12, 8-9 Commonwealth)

A three-pointer with 53 seconds remaining put the Warriors on top as Lycoming defeated Albright 68-65 in the Bollman Center on Tuesday, denying the Lions a chance to clinch a Commonwealth playoff bid.

The Lions need to win to avoid their first losing season since 2006-07. Sophomore center Calvert Gantz' 64 blocks are three shy of the school single season record.

Senior Day

Today is Senior Day for four seniors who have contributed to 66 victories and consecutive Commonwealth playoff appearances.

Reuel Moore has played in 63 career games. He has totaled 309 points, including 50 three-pointers. His career-high of 20 points came against King's in his sophomore year.

Sam Marrella has played in 97 career games, starting 77 at point guard. He has totaled 516 points, 265 assists and 89 steals while shooting 74.3% from the free throw line and 36.2% from three-point range. He ranked third in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio last season (3.30), and was named to NABC Honors Court for his academic success.

Pedro Perez scored his 1,000th career point on Tuesday and now has 1027 points in 89 appearances (61 starts). A 2012-13 All-Commonwealth selection, he leads the Lions in scoring this year with 17.4 ppg, and was selected to the D3hoops.com national Team of the Week earlier this season. He has added 417 rebounds, 142 assists and 89 steals.

Kyle Jordan scored his 1,000th point a week ago and now has 1016 career points over 104 games and 83 starts. A 2012-13 All-Commonwealth selection, his 144 career blocks is a school record and his 55 rejections this season is third in the school record books. He has added 669 rebounds, 138 assists and 107 steals while starting every game for three straight seasons. He is third all-time at Albright with a career field goal percentage of 53.4%.

Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (8-16, 5-12 Commonwealth)
