Senior Day Surprise Highlights Women's Basketball Season Finale

Box Score

The Albright College women's basketball team dropped a Senior Day season finale, 71-49 to visiting Elizabethtown on Saturday.

It was Senior Day for three departing Lions- Kristi McFadden, Shawn Barczynski and Meghan Boyle. Boyle was surprised during introductions by her brother William, back from a deployment overseas in Afghanistan.

Boyle pulled down five rebounds in the game to move into fourth all-time in the school record books in that category.

Another player moving up the record board was sophomore Kelecia Harris, who blocked one shot to equal the school single season mark of 61.

Boyle pulled down the game's first rebound opportunity, and soon scored from McFadden's assist for an early 4-2 Albright lead.

Barczynski hit a jumper right off the inbounds pass for an 8-7 Lion advantage, and then scored again to make it 10-7.

After consecutive Taylor Kreider baskets put the visitors ahead 16-13, Harris blocked her record-tying 61st shot of the season. Allison Hardwick pulled down the rebound, and completed a three-point play on the break.

Krissy Pennell answered with a three-point play of her own however, as the Blue Jays closed the first half on a 28-8 run over the final nine-plus minutes. Albright trailed 47-26 at the break.

Boyle assisted Barczynski in the post with 18:18 remaining, and the senior then blocked a shot and scored at the other end as the Lions trailed 53-32.

Kreider blocked a shot and went coast-to-coast to put the Blue Jays ahead 55-32. With 7:16 remaining, Albright freshman Morgan Harris went the length of the court herself for a basket.

Rachel Forjan made 9-of-11 shots, including some outside jumpers, for a game-high 20 point. Kreider added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Albright ends its season with a record of 13-12 (7-11 Commonwealth), its first winning season since 2008-09. Elizabethtown (20-4, 14-4) moves on to the conference semifinals next week.
