The Albright College women's lacrosse team struck quickly off the draw, beating visiting Immaculata 19-5 on Tuesday afternoon in Shirk Stadium.
Junior
Meghan Wilson (2G, 2A, 2 GB, 5 DC, 3 CT) and sophomore
Amanda Smith (3G, 1A, 5 GB, 8 DC, 1 CT) each had well-rounded performances for the Lions.
Freshman
Giuliana Rizzotti had four goals and an assist, all in the first half. Also scoring twice each for Albright were
Tori Meyer and
Rebecca Sartorio. Meyer added two assists as well, while fellow sophomore
Nicole Klusewitz had five ground balls.
On three separate occasions in the first half, the Lions took the draw right down and scored less than 13 seconds after a previous Albright goal.
A nice flip pass from Meyer to Smith made it 2-0 Albright, five minutes into the action. Wilson won the ensuing draw and took it all the way herself for another goal 11 seconds later.
Rizzotti made Immaculata pay for a failed clear, converting a free position shot with 22:15 left in the first half for a 4-0 lead. 13 seconds later,
Erin Farrell fed Smith off the draw for a 5-0 scoreline.
Wilson passed to Smith on a free position chance, and the sophomore converted a backhand shot to make it 6-0 Albright. Rizzotti scored 13 seconds later, after the Lions had secured the draw control.
Rizzotti rattled a shot off both posts and in with 19:07 remaining in the first half, giving Albright an 8-0 lead. Immaculata finally won a draw and
Katie Cook, who had earlier hit the post, tallied just 16 seconds after Rizzotti's goal.
The Lions led 12-2 after a first half that saw nine failed Immaculata clears to just one for the hosts.
Lexi Garapola gave Albright a 14-3 lead early in the second half. The clock was running by that point, but Meyer scored soon after yet another Lion draw control.
Less than 50 seconds after coming back from a yellow card, freshman
Amanda Jacabacci cut to the cage and scored for a 17-4 Albright lead.
Patricia Horgan capped the scoring with eight seconds remaining in the game.
Sophomore
Emily Hutson (one save) earned the win in goal, with freshman
Hayley Joyce saving two of the three shots she faced off the bench.
Albright improves to 3-2 on the season, and will head to Colorado for Spring Break this weekend. The Lions play at Colorado College (Mar. 17), Colorado Mesa (Mar. 19) and vs. Fort Lewis (Mar. 20).
