The Albright College women's tennis team split their first two spring break matches in Hilton Head, S.C., beating Pikeville and losing to Goucher.

With rain throughout the day Monday, Albright's opening match with Pikeville was eventually played indoors at 9 p.m.

Pikeville only had three competitors for the match; Albright took a 7-2 decision due to forfeits after the teams split four points.

Victoria Foanio and Alyssa Sell each won in straight sets at singles, while freshman Brooke Ronney was beaten in three sets in the second spot.

Pikeville's Mounai Sami/Thais Bezerra defeated Katie Wolf and Erin Sullivan 8-1 at first doubles.

On Tuesday, the Lions were defeated 6-3 by Goucher. Foanio (first singles) and Sell (third singles) won their individual matches, which were played as a single set.

Ronney and Melissa Carberry defeated Kirsten Cianci/Kelsey Turner 8-5 at second doubles. Foanio and Sell lost 8-3 to Amanda Bercovici/Alex Walsh in the top pairs spot.

Albright will face St. Norbert College tomorrow and conclude its trip against Division II East Stroudsburg University on Thursday.
