Women's Tennis Beats D-II East Stroudsburg, 7-2

Box Score

The Albright College women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip to Hilton Head with an emphatic 7-2 victory, over Division II opponent East Stroudsburg University.

It was the second time this season that the Lions have defeated a DII PSAC school 7-2, following a victory over Kutztown on September 26.

Albright took five of the six singles points in straight sets. Senior Victoria Foanio won 6-0, 6-1 in the top spot, while freshman Brooke Ronney won 6-1, 6-3 at second singles.

Junior Alyssa Sell was victorious in the third spot, 6-4, 6-0. Classmates Melissa Carberry (fourth singles) and Christina Peacock (sixth singles) also took points in straight sets.

Foanio and Sell shut out ESU's top pairing of Amina Dickson/Allison Bean 8-0 in doubles play. Ronney and Erin Sullivan won 8-2 at third doubles.

The only two points the Lions lost were closely contested. Sullivan was beaten 10-8 in a third set by Amber Jadus at fifth singles. Peacock and Carberry dropped a tough 9-7 scoreline at second doubles.

The Lady Lions were also the second Albright women's sport to knock off a Division II opponent in a span of about 12 hours, following women's lacrosse's victory at Colorado Mesa late last night.

Albright improves to 6-3 on the season and will travel to Lancaster Bible next Wednesday.
