Box ScoreThe Albright College women's tennis team took a big win to open Commonwealth Conference play, edging rival Alvernia 5-4 on Tuesday.
Albright earned two points each from three of its top players-
Victoria Foanio,
Alyssa Sell and
Brooke Ronney.
The Lions went on top 2-1 after doubles play. Foanio and Sell beat

Julie Seidel 8-3 in the top spot, and Ronney/
Erin Sullivan defeated
Rachael Eberhardt/
Lillian Hussar 8-3 at third doubles.
Albright's top three singles players then came through, two in thrilling fashion. Ronney won a tiebreaker in the opening set to ultimately defeat
Alyssa Boyd 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 6-3 at second singles. Sell also went three sets to knock off Perkins 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
At first singles, Foanio beat Seidel 6-2, 6-1.
Alvernia swept the Red and White at fourth through sixth singles, but Albright held on against the team that earned the Commonwealth's final playoff spot last spring.
The Lions are 8-3, 1-0 and host Messiah on Saturday in another tough conference match.
