Men's Lax Pulls Away From Lyco in 2nd Half

The Albright College men's lacrosse team dominated the second half on the road, beating Lycoming 14-6 on Thursday afternoon.

Leading 4-2 at halftime, the Lions scored 10 times in the second half to pull away. Albright held a 32-8 shot advantage after the break (51-16 overall), and won 19-of-24 faceoffs.

Freshman Cam Cetrone had three goals and two assists for five points. Junior Ryan Turner also had a hat trick, while classmate Philip Potter added a goal and three assists. Matthew Lomady (two goals, assist) and Andrew Poitras (goal, assist) also had multi-point performances.

Junior Darian Meador won 18-of-23 faceoffs and picked up 13 ground balls. Cetrone also had four ground balls, while senior defenseman Sean Cunningham caused three turnovers.

After the Warriors opened the scoring, James Egleston, Cetrone and Lomady scored in the final seven minutes of the first quarter to make it 3-1 Albright.

The Lions broke things open in the third quarter. Lomady made it 6-3, and right off the faceoff Phil Potter found Cetrone nine seconds later.

Andrew Potter and Phil Potter scored within a minute of each other later in the third quarter for a 9-4 lead.

Nate Rhoads scored with 7:40 left in the game to put the Lions ahead 13-4. Jimmy Durkin also struck late in the period for the Red and White.

Albright improves to 8-4, 4-2, and moves into third place in the Commonwealth Conference. The Lions will host #12 Montclair State on Saturday, their fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the season.
