Box ScoreThe Albright College men's lacrosse team routed local rival Alvernia 20-4 on Wednesday, getting a total team effort from the roster.
The Lions got points from 17 different players, used four goalies (
Jordan DiZenzo,
Kevin Parker,
Thomas Mitchell and
John Kirk), and had 45 total players see the field.
Philip Potter had a hat trick, with
Ryan Turner and
Nate Rhoads adding two goals and an assist each. Also scoring twice each were
Justin Brown and
Tyler Strayline.
Nicholas Pisko,
Derek Stump and
Ray Shalvoy added two assists apiece.
Darian Meador won 15-of-18 faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls. Also winning faceoffs were
Andrew Potter (5-of-7) and
Brandon Brown (2-of-2).
Defensively,
Tim McCrudden caused a turnover and picked up four ground balls. Parker, a freshman, saw most of the action in the cage, saving eight shots while allowing just three goals.
Potter touched in a trio of passes from Stump, Pisko and Turner in the first quarter as Albright led 7-0 after one period.
Turned added two more for a 9-0 lead, moving to 96 career goals.
James Egleston made it 10-0, and freshman
Jordan Zehr scored his first collegiate goal for a 12-1 lead.
Parker made a nice save on Alvernia's
Rick Reid in the second quarter with converted goalie
Tyler Trendy getting a shot off the other end, but missing.
Shalvoy dished out two assists in an eight-second span in the third quarter. After feeding Brown, the Lions won the faceoff and Shalvoy hit Strayline for a 16-3 scoreline.
Parker made a great low stop on
Benjamin Manning in the third quarter. The Crusaders came up empty on consecutive third period man-up opportunities, with
Colin Gallagher hitting the post at one point. Gallagher did record a power play goal in the fourth quarter.
It was Senior Day for the program's first-ever graduating class, and the Lions recognized DiZenzo,
Austin O'Brien,
Mike Donohoe and
Sean Cunningham before the game.
