Box ScoreThe Albright College women's tennis team was knocked out of the Commonwealth Conference postseason at Lebanon Valley, in a 5-0 semifinal loss.
The match was twice postponed due to rain, and finally took place Thursday afternoon in Annville.
Singles play did not last long, as
Brooke Ronney (#2) and
Elizabeth Bengtsson (#5) were swept 6-0, 6-0 and the other matches were left unfinished with the decision clinched.
The Dutchmen swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead into singles.
Lori Noble and
Lauren Shanberg shut out
Melissa Carberry and
Christina Peacock 8-0 in the third spot to open the match.
Ronney and
Erin Sullivan were defeated 8-4 at second doubles and
Victoria Foanio and
Alyssa Sell lost 8-3 in the top spot.
The other four singles matches were early in the second set at the time the result was clinched.
Albright concludes its season with a record of 13-6, despite a second playoff exit at LVC in the last three years. Lebanon Valley (11-4) will travel to Elizabethtown for Saturday's Commonwealth championship.
