Scranton Spoils Field Hockey Home Opener

READING, Pa. -- Scranton received goals from four different players on its way to a 4-0 victory over the Albright College field hockey team spoiling the home opener for the Lions on Thursday at Shirk Stadium.

The Lions opened the season with four consecutive road games before opening the home portion of its schedule on Thursday.

Krista Osborne, Alyssa Whitman, Elizabeth Franko and Sierramarie Fitzgerald all scored goals for the Royals. Scranton outshot the Lions 26-2, which included a 14-0 advantage in the second half.

Albright managed two shots on the evening and both came off of the stick of junior Amanda Smith. Gabby Frake made 11 saves in net for Albright in her 70 minutes of action.

Scranton kept its perfect record intact as it improved to 6-0 with the victory, while Albright dropped to 0-5 on the season.

The Lions next game will be on Sept. 17 against Delaware Valley in Shirk Stadium.
