READING, Pa. -- Senior goalie
Gabby Frake made 15 saves, but the Albright College field hockey team lost to Delaware Valley 3-1 in non-conference play on Wednesday at Shirk Stadium.
Frake kept the Lions in the game, but the Aggies eventually broke through for a goal in the first half and two more in the second half. Delaware Valley finished the game with a total of 26 shots.
Trailing 3-0, Albright got on the scoreboard in the second half when
Jessie Leonardis scored her second goal of the season on an assist from
Amanda Smith. Despite having several scoring chances following the goal, the Lions could not cut the deficit any further.
Albright, which dropped to 0-6 on the season, registered its second-highest shot total of the season with 15 but failed to capitalize on its opportunites until the goal by Leonardis.
Leonardis led the Lions with four shots, while
Kasey Neiderer had three shots. Smith,
Tracy Snyder and
Amanda Long each had a pair of shots for Albright.
Albright returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 20) when it hosts Elizabethtown at noon in Shirk Stadium.
