READING, Pa. -- Sophomore
Lauren Swavely scored her first goal of the season, but the Albright field hockey team lost to Elizabethtown 6-1 in non-conference action on Saturday at Shirk Stadium.
Making her second start of the season, Swavely scored at the 62:59 mark of the game to get the Lions on the board. Freshman
Tracy Snyder assisted on the goal by Swavely with a pass across the front of the goal.
Elizabethtown, which improved to 3-4 overall, received two goals and an assist from Taylor Alwine and goals from Andrea Keady, Alyssa Aichele, Emma Christman and Lindsey Nester.
Selene Jones made eight saves in goal and picked up the victory for the Blue Jays.
Albright, which dropped to 0-7 on the season, generated 16 shots on the afernoon and had several outstanding offensive opportunites, but could not solve Jones until the goal by Swavely.
Jessie Leonardis had eight shots, including five on goal, to lead the Albright offensive attack. Snyder had four shots, Swavely had two and
Mackenzie Faight and
Sam Chichearo each had one.
Senior
Gabby Frake made eight saves in goal for the Lions and played all 70 minutes.
Albright will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 23) when it visits Wilkes for a 7 p.m. contest.
