EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. -- Senior goalie
Gabby Frake made 11 saves, but the Albright field hockey team lost on the road to Wilkes 1-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday at Schmidt Stadium.
Wilkes, which improved to 2-5 on the season, scored the only goal of the game when Marissa Surdy scored at the 47 second mark of the first half. Frake made all 11 of her saves from that point forward keeping the Lions in the game.
Albright, which fell to 0-8 on the season, was outshot 19-2 for the game. The one goal allowed by the Lions marked the fewest they have permitted in a contest this season.
Tracy Snyder and
Jessie Leonardis each recorded a shot for Albright, and Leonardis had the Lions lone shot on goal.
Cassidy Barrow had a defensive save for the Lions.
Albright opens Commonwealth Conference play on Thursday when it hosts Widener at 6 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
