Pennington Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Past Goucher in Overtime

READING, Pa. -- Freshman Karis Pennington headed in the game winning goal at the 5:18 mark of the first overtime lifting the Albright College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Goucher on Wednesday at Shirk Stadium.

Morgan Valera passed the ball to Pennington who headed in the shot past Goucher goalie Liz Stradtman and giving the Lions the victory.

"It was a good win for us," said head coach Pat Stanco. "We have won back-to-back matches and this win gives us momentum as we head into a tough stretch of the schedule."

Albright, which improved to 3-3 on the season, will play its next six matches on the road beginning with a match at King's on Saturday.

Pennington's game-winner helped the Lions overcome a 1-0 Goucher lead and handed them their third win in the last four matches.

Goucher (2-3-1) took a 1-0 lead when Brianna Hite scored on a loose ball in front of the Albright net at the 51:30 mark of the match.

Emily Sousa tied the match for Albright when she scored at the 80:25 mark of the match from 15 yards out.

Jaymee Stepp made six saves in goal for the Lions and picked up her second consecutive win on the season.
