READING, Pa. -- Sophomore
Emily Sousa tallied two goals leading an Albright offensive explosion as the Lions notched their first victory of the season on Wednesday with a 4-1 win over Immaculata at Shirk Stadium.
Led by Sousa who had 10 shots on the evening, Albright fired 35 shots at Immaculata goalie Elizabeth McBride. The Lions registered 14 shots in the first half and then directed 21 second-half shots at the net in the second half.
The two goals by Sousa turned a slim 2-1 lead into a comfortable 4-1 lead and helped the Lions overcome an early deficit.
Despite controlling the play, Albright found itself trailing 1-0 when Carly Mirarchi scored for Immaculata at the 18:55 mark of the first half.
Karis Pennington and
Taylor Cassedy then came off the bench to give Albright an offensive boost.
Pennington tied the score at 1-1 with her goal at the 33:00 mark and Cassedy put Albright ahead to stay with her goal at the 35:32 mark.
Sousa then added her two second-half goals securing the first win of the season for Albright.
The Lions improved to 1-2 on the year, while Immaculata dropped to 0-2.
