Horka Scores 18 in Loss at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Devan Horka scored 18 points and collected a career-high 12 rebounds, but Peyton Carper led four players in double figures with 13 points as Lebanon Valley ended Albright's six-game winning streak with a 70-60 Commonwealth Conference victory on Saturday in Sorrentino Gymnasium.

Lebanon Valley, which improved to 13-6 overall and 5-6 in conference play, overcame a four-point halftime deficit by shooting 45.7 percent from the floor in the second half and limiting Albright to just 33.3 percent shooting.

Albright, which dropped to 14-5 overall and 8-2 in the Commonwealth, committed 28 turnovers for the game, including 16 in the second half. The Lions were also hurt by foul trouble as leading scorer and rebounder Kelecia Harris was limited to just 13 minutes of action. She finished with a season-low two points and six rebounds before fouling out late in the game.

Lebanon Valley, which scored 26 points off of Albright turnovers, also received 12 points from Lexie Lantz, 11 points from Bridget Rothert and 10 points from Kaitlyn Van Tash.

Albright senior Jessica Venturelli reached double figures in scoring for the sixth-straight time as she finished with 14 points. Emily O'Donnell added nine points and eight rebounds for the Lions.

Despite Harris playing only three minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, the Lions managed to take a lead into halftime.

After a layup by Lauren Derby trimmed the Albright lead to 21-19, the Lions responded with a 5-0 run to take a 26-19 lead with 3:33 left in the first half.

The Dutchmen cut the lead to 26-24, but back-to-back baskets by Horka increased the Lion lead to 30-24 with 1:18 to play in the first period.

A 4-0 Lebanon Valley run cut the lead to 30-28, but Venturelli scored at the end of the half giving Albright a 32-28 lead at intermission.

Carper scored eight points to open the second half giving Lebanon Valley a 39-38 lead with 16:22 to play in the game.

The Lions regained the lead on the only basket of the game from Harris and took a 45-42 lead on a three-pointer from Venturelli with 14:09 to play.

Albright took a 50-46 lead with 11:41 to play, but Lebanon Valley responded with a game-changing 9-0 run to take control of the contest.

Taylor Umbrell capped the run with a jumper that gave the Dutchmen a 55-50 lead with 8:27 to play.

After Lebanon Valley extended the lead to 59-52, Albright rallied behind baskets from Venturelli and Horka cutting the lead to 59-56 with 5:17 to play.

But the Dutchmen used an 11-4 run over the next three minutes to pull away from the Lions. Two free throws from Van Tash increased the Lebanon Valley lead to 70-58 with 1:46 to play.

Albright will return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 4) when it visits conference-leading Stevenson for a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
