READING, Pa. -- Following a tough overtime loss to Lycoming on Wednesday, the Albright men's basketball team returns to the Bollman Center to host Messiah on Saturday (Jan. 10) in a Commonwealth Conference game.
The game will be part of a doubleheader with the women's team and will tip at 2 p.m.
The Lions, who fell to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in league play with the loss to Lycoming, are currently tied with,three other teams for third place in the conference standings. Lebanon Valley and Lycoming share the top spot in the conference with 4-1 records, while Albright, Stevenson, Arcadia and Hood are 2-2 in the conference.
Albright has proved to be tough to beat in the Bollman Center as the Lions have a 5-2 home record, which includes conference wins over Lebanon Valley and Stevenson.
Sophomore
Omari Ringgold is the Lions top scorer as he is averaging 12.5 points per game and is one of five players scoring in double figures for Albright.
Josh Marquez (11.7),
Evan Ward (11.5),
DeJuan Smith (10.6) and
Gilberto Benz (10.5) are also averaging in double figures for the Lions.
Ward has been the Lions top rebounder this season and currently averages 9.2 per game. He has posted four double-figure rebounding games and has at least six rebounds in all 12 games this season.
Messiah enters Saturday's game with an 8-5 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the Commonwealth. The Falcons secured their first conference win of the season on Wednesday when they overcame a 20-point deficit to defeat Stevenson 75-74 in overtime.
David Fernandez-Bravo leads Messiah in scoring averaging 15.0 points per game, while Geoff Boyle tops the team averaging 9.5 rebounds per contest.
Albright leads the all-time series with Messiah 39-24.
