READING, Pa. – The Albright men's soccer team has had to endure several tough losses during its recent skid, but none were tougher than Saturday night when Hood scored with two seconds remaining in the second overtime to beat the Lions 1-0 in a MAC Commonwealth match at Shirk Stadium.
Drew Demich took a corner from Juliano Pillari as the clock was winding down and directed the ball past Albright keeper
Austin Aldinger to lift the Blazers to the victory.
Albright had multiple chances to take the lead against the Blazers, but could never solve Hood keeper Joe Centeno.
Nathan Hughes hit the post with his shot in the first period, while
Oumar Diawara chipped a ball wide from 10 yards out in the first period.
Austin Phillips put a header on net late in the second period that Centeno made a save on to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
With the loss Albright drops to 1-10-1 and 0-3 in the conference, while Hood improved to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
The Lions outshot the Blazers 16-15 in the contest, while Hood held an 11-8 advantage in corner kicks.
Phillips carried the offense tallying five shots in the match, while
Steve Bien-Aime followed with three and
Zachary Lahey, Diawara,
Anthony Parlato, Hughes,
Adam Brosonski,
Anthony Daub and
Neil Rapp all had one shot throughout the contest.
Albright returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 14) as the team travels to Alvernia in conference action for a 7 p.m. match.
