OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Junior
Rebecca Mallon scored early in the second period leading the Albright women's soccer team to a critical 1-0 MAC Commonwealth victory over Stevenson on Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.
Mallon took a free kick from 26 yards out and drilled a shot just under the crossbar and out of the reach of Stevenson goalie Tiffany McKee giving the Lions a 1-0 lead at the 61:30 mark of the second period.

Payton Bogatch were able to make the lead stand up as the Mustangs generated five shots following the goal by Mallon. Bogatch finished the match with two saves, including one in the final minute, to earn the victory in net.
With the win, Albright improved to 8-6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Lions are currently tied for third in the conference standings with Lebanon Valley with two matches remaining on the season. The top five teams in the conference standings will advance to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
Albright was able to muster only three shots for the match, while Stevenson had 13 shots.
Albright has two regular season matches remaining against Messiah on Oct. 24 and at Arcadia on Oct. 27. The Lions will be attempting to advance to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the fourth time in the past five years.
The Lions will host Messiah on Saturday (Oct. 24) at 5:30 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
