Mollica Scores First Career Goal Against Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Freshman Emily Mollica scored her first career goal, but the Albright women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 MAC Commonwealth loss to Arcadia on Tuesday at Easton Field as the Lions concluded regular season play.

Albright dropped to 8-8-2 overall and finished conference play with a 4-4 record. The Lions will have to sit and wait to learn of their fate in regards to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.

Albright currently occupies the fifth, and final spot, for the conference tourmament with Alvernia sitting a game behind the Lions but owning the head-to-head tiebreaker. Alvernia will face top-ranked Messiah in its season finale on Saturday (Oct. 31) at Messiah. A victory by the Crusaders will enable them to claim the fifth spot, while a Messiah victory will send the Lions to the postseason for the second straight season.

Albright could have clinched a tournament berth with a win against the Knights on Tuesday, but fell behind 3-0 and could not rally back.

Kayla Haberbosch got Arcadia on the board just 5:44 into the match when she beat Albright goalie Payton Bogatch giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.

Tara Smith converted a header at the 53:31 mark of the second period off an assist from Jess Kelly to up the Arcadia lead to 2-0.

Haberbosch pushed the lead to 3-0 when she scored on a breakaway at the 69:57 mark of the second period.

Mollica netted her first career goal at the 84:13 mark of the second stanza to get Albright on the scoreboard.

Albright generated only four shots for the match led by Mollica who had two shots. Crissy Terraces and Natalie Wilson also had shots for the Lions.
