Boll Leads Albright to Doubleheader Split with Messiah

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Senior Dylan Boll went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs leading Albright to a 7-3 victory and a split of its Commonwealth Conference doubleheader with Messiah on Monday.

The Lions entered the bottom of the fifth inning trailing 3-1 before rallying for five runs to take the lead.

Julian Ciminos and Brandon Triantos drew back-to-back walks to start the rally for the Lions in the fifth inning. The Lions cut the lead to 3-2 when Messiah mishandled a bunt attempt by Nathan Fretz, which allowed Ciminos to score.

Boll then delivered a double to right that scored Triantos and Fretz and put the Lions in front to stay at 4-3.

Gabe Santone followed with a double to place runners on second and third and Boll scored on a wild pitch to extend the Albright lead to 5-3.

Micah Storms capped the rally with an RBI single that scored Santone and gave the Lions a 6-3 advantage.

Albright added an insurance run in the sixth inning when John Medvecky singled in Triantos to push the lead to 7-3.

Trevor Mastria worked out of a jam in the top of the seventh inning to earn his first save of the season. After allowing a single and a double to begin the inning, Mastria notched back-to-back strikeouts and then induced a fly out to end the game.

Alex Myers picked up the victory for Albright as he went five innings and allowed just three hits while striking out five batters.

Medvecky finished the game 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and Fretz, Santone, Storms and Triantos each had one hit for the Lions.

Messiah won game one of the doubleheader 4-3 behind the pitching of Steven Ridings who struck out seven and allowed just four hits in posting a complete-game victory.

Messiah jumped out to a 4-1 lead and then held off a late Lions charge.

Max Dundore went 2-for-3 for Albright, while Santone and Storms also had base hits for Albright. Medvecky and Storms picked up the runs batted in for Albright in game one.

Albright improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Messiah dropped to 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference.
