Albright Falls to Lebanon Valley in ECAC Title Game

READING, Pa. – Junior Kelecia Harris scored 25 points, but Most Outstanding Player Taylor Umbrell had 22 points and nine rebounds leading Lebanon Valley to an 81-58 victory over Albright in the ECAC South Championship game on Sunday in the Bollman Center.

Lebanon Valley, which improved to 21-9 on the season, was 5-of-6 from the three-point line in the second half as the Dutchmen outscored Albright 47-26 after intermission. The Dutchmen shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the second half, while limiting Albright to just 28.6 percent shooting.

The Dutchmen opened the second half on a 7-0 run which turned a 34-32 lead into a 41-32 advantage with 17:06 to play in the game.

After Jane Joyce cut the lead to 48-40 with a jumper, Lebanon Valley responded with a 13-4 run to take a 61-44 lead with 7:20 left in the second period.

A three-point play by Harris and a three-pointer from senior Jessica Venturelli trimmed the lead to 61-50 with 5:33 left in the contest.

Three consecutive Lebanon Valley free throws increased the lead to 64-50 before Morgan Harris drilled a three-pointer to cut the lead to 64-53 at the 4:34 mark.

Bridget Rothert and Peyton Carper answered with baskets to increase the lead to 68-53 with 3:52 to play.

Harris brought Albright to within 68-54 with a free throw with 3:39 left, but the Dutchmen put the game away with a 9-0 run to take a 77-54 lead with 1:48 left in the game.

Albright, which finished the season with a 21-8 record, was led by Harris who scored a game-high 25 points and collected seven rebounds. Emily O'Donnell added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Lions.

The contest marked the final game for Albright seniors Allison Hardwick and Venturelli. Hardwick had five rebounds, while Venturelli finished with three points and game-high six assists.

Umbrell led four Lebanon Valley players in double figures in scoring with her 22 points. Rothert added 19 points, while Carper finished with 15 points and Lexie Lantz scored 10 points.

Albright started strong and jumped out to an 11-5 lead behind Harris who scored nine of the Lions first 11 points of the game.

The Lions held a 14-11 lead after a basket by O'Donnell, but Lebanon Valley responded with a 5-0 run to take a 16-14 lead with 11:07 to play in the first half.

Albright regained the lead when O'Donnell converted a three-point play, but Maureen Fleming answered with a basket giving LVC an 18-17 lead with 10:32 to play in the opening period.

Back-to-back baskets by Harris gave Albright a 21-18 lead with 8:21 to play in the first.

A layup by O'Donnell and a basket by Devan Horka increased the Albright lead to 29-24 with 5:28 left in the first half.

Five consecutive points by Umbrell, including a three-pointer, tied the contest at 29-29 with 4:01 left in the first period.

A free throw from Horka and a jumper from Joyce gave Albright a 32-29 lead with 3:04 left, but Lebanon Valley closed the first half on a 5-0 run to take a 34-32 lead into the break.

Albright, which was competing in its first-ever ECAC championship game, finished the season with a school-record 21 victories.
