READING, Pa. –
Ryan Turner and
Cam Cetrone each scored two goals in the fourth period as Albright outscored Arcadia 7-0 in the final period on its way to an 11-4 Commonwealth Conference victory over the Knights on Wednesday at John Gurski Stadium.
Albright entered the final period tied 4-4 with Arcadia, but Cetrone put the Lions in front to stay on a goal with 14:11 to play.
Turner then tallied back-to-back goals to increase the Albright lead to 7-4 with 7:18 to play in the game.
T.J. Holston scored off a feed from
Philip Potter to up the lead to 8-4 and Cetrone then added his second goal of the period with 3:48 to play to increase the margin to 9-4.
Bryan Smith and
Mike Southwick each added goals in the final two minutes of the game to round out the scoring for the Lions.
Nicholas Pisko turned aside three shots in the fourth period, and made seven saves in total, to improve to 7-2 in goal for the Lions.
Albright, which improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Commonwealth, also received two goals and three assists from Holston. Potter added two assists for the Lions, while
James Egleston and
Derek Stump each had an assist.
Aracadia, which dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league play, was led by Joe Stanton who scored two goals. Sean McDonald and Danny Riley also found the back of the net for the Knights.
Albright held a 46-21 advantage in shots, including a 17-5 margin in the decisive fourth period. The Lions also forced Arcadia into 19 turnovers and limited the Knights to 2-6 on extra-man opportunities.
Holston got Albright on the board in the first period as he scored off a helper from Potter to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage with 12:15 to play in the first period.
The Knights evened the score at 1-1 when McDonald scored a man-up goal with 5:44 to play.
Arcadia took a 2-1 lead when Stanton scored at the 13:18 mark of the second period, but Turner scored a man-up goal to tie the game at 2-2 with 7:52 to play in the second period.
Turner put Albright ahead at 3-2 on an unassisted goal at the 11:51 mark of the third, but the Knights tied the game on a man-up goal from Riley with 5:17 to play.
Cetrone put Albright back in front at 4-3 on a goal with 4:02 remaining in the third, but the Knights rallied to tie the game at 4-4 when Stanton scored unassisted with 1:23 left in the third.
Albright then ripped off seven straight goals to put the game out of reach.
The Lions will return to action on Saturday (April 4) when it visits Montclair State in a non-conference game beginning at 1 p.m.
