Regina Milburn Records Five Hits in Doubleheader Versus Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman Regina Milburn went 5-for-8 and had a run batted in, but Albright dropped both ends of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader versus Widener on Wednesday.

Milburn was 2-for-4 with an RBI in game one and went 3-for-4 in game two.

Widener won the opener 10-5 and completed the sweep with a 7-2 victory in the second game.

It was a frustrating evening for the Lions as they outhit Widener in both games, but left a combined 23 runners on base. Albright had nine hits in game one and then pounded out 11 hits in the second game.

Brianne Long was 3-for-4 with a run scored in game one, while Nikki Russo knocked in three runs.

Russo was 3-for-3 at the plate in game two, and Sammi O'Connor was 2-for-4 and blasted a two-run home run.

Widener scored three runs in each of the first three innings of game one to take a 9-0 lead before the Lions stormed back into the game with a five-run fifth inning.

Nicole Forktus started the rally with a single and Kaela Romano followed with a single to right.

Long loaded the bases when she hit a single through the right side and the Lions scored their first run of the game on a Widener throwing error.

Milburn delivered a single to left that plated Romano to cut the lead to 9-2.

Russo then ripped a double to right that scored Milburn, O'Connor and Long to cut the Widener lead to 9-5.

Albright loaded the bases with one out in the sixth inning, but a pop out and a strike out ended the threat.

Widener tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the lead to 10-5.

Albright jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two when O'Connor blasted a two-run homer to center.

Widener took the lead in the bottom of the third inning by scoring six times.

Albright had runners on base in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings but could not push across any runs.
