READING, Pa. –
William Klinger had a hit and knocked in a run, but Albright fell to Kutztown 8-1 in the season finale for both teams on Monday at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Klinger finished the game 1-for-2 with an RBI to pace the Lions. Albright also received base hits from
Max Dundore,
Trey Hook and
Brandon Triantos.
Dylan Price,
Zach Krause and
Philip Angelastro each worked a scoreless inning in relief for Albright.
Ben Eppley had two hits and drove in two runs, while Travis Kreitz homered and drove in a pair of runs to lead Kutztown. The Golden Bears also received two RBI from Brandon Hickey.
Peter Masterson picked up the victory for Kutztown as he worked the first two innings and allowed only an unearned run.
Aaron Forker took the loss for the Lions as he allowed three runs, only one was earned, in his one inning of work.
Albright jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Kutztown with a run in the top of the first inning.
Nathan Fretz led off the game by reaching on a fielding error and stole second base to move into scoring position. With two outs,
Zac Okonski drew a walk and Klinger followed with a single to center to plate Fretz and give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Kutztown answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead.
The Golden Bears stretched the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Kreitz and an RBI single from Hickey.
Kreitz homered in the fourth inning to push the Kutztown lead to 6-1 and the Golden Bears added two more runs in the seventh inning on a double by Eppley.
Albright finished the 2015 season with a 12-19-1 overall record, while Kutztown completed its campaign with a 19-22 overall record.
