READING, Pa. -- The Albright men's soccer team staged a furious second-half rally that forced overtime, but Penn State Berks emerged with a 3-2 double overtime victory on Monday at the PSU Berks Turf Field.
T.J. Yurkovic scored at the 100:52 mark of the second overtime lifting the Nittany Lions to their first victory of the season.
Albright fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but rallied to force the overtime.
Nathan Hughes scored his first goal of the season at the 62:56 mark of the second period to bring the Lions to within 2-1.
Lawrence Pierre, who scored the game-winner in the Lions victory at Immaculata, tied the match with a goal at the 71:10 mark.
Senior
Oumar Diawara assisted on both goals to finish with two points for the match.
Albright had three shots in the first overtime, but was unable to beat keeper Rotman Saltos.
Hughes and
Austin Phillips each recorded five shots to lead Albright, while Diawara had two shots.
Austin Aldinger made six saves in goal for the Lions.
Albright, which dropped to 1-3-1 on the season, will return to action on Saturday (Feb. 19) when it visits Penn State Harrisburg for a 2 p.m. start.
