SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Sophomore
Tracy Snyder scored a goal, but the Albright field hockey team dropped its 2015 season opener to Kean 6-1 on Saturday in the opening round of the Connie Harnum Classic hosted by Susquehanna.
Snyder, who had two goals last season, scored at the 57:04 mark of the second period to get the Lions on the board.
Amanda Smith, a Second Team All-Commonwealth Conference selection last season, assisted on the goal for the Lions.
Albright fell behind early as Shauna LaMaina scored at the 2:49 mark of the opening period to give Kean a 1-0 advantage. The Cougars upped the lead to 2-0 when Krista LaMaina scored the first of her three goals at the 6:27 mark.
Krista LaMaina added two more goals and Rayena Brown tallied another as Kean took a 5-0 lead into the intermission.
Kean made it 6-0 on a goal by Marissa Robinson at the 51:58 mark of the second period before Snyder scored for the Lions.
Freshman
Aileen Taylor played all 70 minutes in goal for Albright and made nine saves.
Smith and Snyder each had two shots to lead the Lions, while
Annette Helmandollar,
Kasey Neiderer,
Carly Hollinger,
Jessie Leonardis,
Kendra Delgado and
Emma Fenning had one shot each.
Albright will conclude play in the Connie Hanum Classic on Sunday (Sept. 6) when it faces the host Susquehanna.
