Frederick, Md.- Senior Emily Sousa led the Albright women's soccer team to its first conference win, a 4-0 victory over Hood College on Saturday's matinee game. The Lions improved to 7-4 and 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth, while the Blazers drop to 2-6-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
Albright's offense exploded in the first half with two players scoring three goals in a matter of 12 minutes. Natalie Wilson got the offense started, scoring in the 10th minute of the game to put Albright up 1-0. Sousa then netted back-to-back goals to put the visiting Lions up 3-0. The forward's first goal of the game came at the 17:14 mark. Almost four minutes later, the senior scored again after teammate Megan O'Brien head the ball to Sousa, who soared the ball past Hood's goalkeeper, Rachel Knoebel.
The lone goal of the second half came from O'Brien at the 53:42 mark to wrap up the scoring for the match.
The Lions look to continue its winning streak when the team returns to Shirk Stadium Tuesday night to host Lycoming College in a conference match-up. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
