READING, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team held a pretty decisive advantage in shots, corner kicks and scoring chances through Tuesday night's match with Lycoming at Shirk Stadium, but the Lions couldn't get one on the board through the first 79 minutes. But a goal by
Crissy Terraces in the 80
th minute gave Albright a 1-0 victory over the Warriors.
The Lions (8-4) took advantage of a misplay by Lycoming keeper Joelle Winey in the box to get their goal.
Emily Sousa was there to corral Winey's fumble of a loose ball. She centered it for Terraces who buried it for the lone score of the contest.
Though Albright managed just the one goal, it had several more chances.
Erica Bross had a few chances off corner kicks and a free kick, but all three of her opportunities missed wide or were stopped. On the defensive side late in the first half, Bross made a splendid play to shield a Lycoming forward on a ball headed towards the Albright keeper for a potential scoring chance.
Natalie Wilson led the Lions with nine shots and four shots on goal. She had a great chance in the 26
th minute that Winey stopped with a leaping save. Wilson was also stopped on a pair of one-timers.
Brittany Lutz nearly gave the Lions a lead in the 41
st minute when she moved past Lycoming defenders on the left side and cut to the center for a shot that ripped just high.
Albright goalkeeper
Alexis Tunney made six saves in the victory including a pair of sparklers against Lycoming's Jordan Lazarich. In the 4
th minute, Lazarich had a point-blank chance from in front, and Tunney stood tall to prevent an early hole for Albright. In the 71
st minute, she found her way behind the defense while chasing a pass from the back line, but Tunney came out to cut down the angle. Lazarich's shot had no room to breathe as Tunney made the stop.
Albright outshot Lycoming, 22-8, while holding an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lions return to action against Stevenson at home on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
