Alexis Tunney made six saves to help lead the Lions to a 0-0 tie with Stevenson Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at Shirk Stadium.
Less than six minutes into the first half, defender
Emily Saxon made a terrific play to stop the visiting Mustangs from scoring. After a Mustangs player weaved her way past Tunney, Saxon came rushing back to clear the ball away from Albright's net and halting any scoring play.
Tunney made two huge saves in the second half to keep Stevenson off the scoreboard. The first of the goalkeeper's big saves came at the 56:30 mark when the Mustangs attacked the net but Tunney made a leaping save to deny Stevenson. Her next major save came as the clock was winding down. In the 82nd minute, Tunney ran swiftly out of her net to take away the angle from Stevenson defender Morgan Cary, who was attempting a shot from the side of Albright's net.
Despite Stevenson holding a 15-6 edge in shots, neither team could produce a continued offensive attack throughout the 110-minute match. Albright's best scoring play came in the 102nd minute when forward
Brittany Lutz settled the ball and ripped a shot from the left side that barely missed going in.
Saxon had a team-high two shots while
Crissy Terraces,
Emily Sousa,
Natalie Wilson, and Lutz each had one shot.
Alexis Siejack and Brianna Christie of Stevenson both finished with four shots, while Jordan Porretto was the only other Mustang to record multiple shots with two.
The Lions are now 8-4-1 overall on the season, whereas the Mustangs are 5-4-2. Following the tie, both teams find themselves 2-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
Albright returns to action on Wednesday, October 12th, when they travel to Chester to face off against Widener University at 7 p.m.
