Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 17 Marietta Tops Men’s Hoops, 74-56

Owings Mills, Md. – Freshman Fred Rowles led the Albright men's basketball team with 10 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, but No. 17 Marietta defeated the Lions, 74-56, on the first day of the Hoopsville Classic.

Marietta jumped out to a 12-0 lead early in the contest and extended its first-half lead to as many as 23, but the Lions pushed back. Omari Ringgold hit a three pointer and added a pair of free throws before a DeJuan Smith layup to cut the deficit to 40-22 with 3:52 to play in the first half. Ringgold finished with nine points while Smith had seven.

Albright outscored Marietta by a bucket in the second half, and Jaylin Calloway led the charge with all eight of his points in the second half. Jared Rappoport scored all six of his points and pulled down four rebounds in the second half. They played a key role in a big 17-2 run for the Lions midway through the half. Calloway sandwiched a three pointer and a layup around a Brandon Lindsay basket as part of an 8-0 spurt at the start of the run, and Rappoport scored six of the nine points on the back end of the run.

The Lions will play Randolph-Macon tomorrow at 2 p.m.
