CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Shannon Thomas scored 23 points and had five rebounds for the Albright women's basketball team in its game at DeSales on Tuesday night, but the Lions fell to the Bulldogs, 88-67.
Alysha Lofton had 15 points and seven rebounds while
MiKayla Lea chipped in with 14 points and six boards.
The difference for DeSales came with strong showings in the first and fourth quarters. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 24-12 lead after the first quarter. Albright pulled the deficit to 10 points at halftime and chipped into it further in the third quarter.
Buckets by Thomas and Lea capped a 7-0 run in the third quarter that turned an 11-point DeSales lead into a 54-50 lead with 2:06 left in the period. A layup by
Devan Horka with 12 seconds left in the quarter sent the game into the final period at six points with DeSales ahead, 58-52.
Thomas hit a three pointer with 3:50 left in the fourth to make it 74-66 DeSales, but the Lions would score just one more point for the rest of the game as DeSales closed the game on a 14-1 run.
Jane Joyce scored six points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. The Lions assisted on 15 of their 21 field goals while also shooting 76.9 percent (20-for-26) from the free throw line.
Albright is back in action after Christmas when it faces Rowan and Denison in Puerto Rico on Dec. 28-29.
