Micah Storms had two hits, including the Lions first home run of the season, and drove in a run, but Albright lost to Lebanon Valley 10-4 in the MAC Commonwealth series opener on Thursday at Kelchner Field.
Storms finished the game 2-for-4 and scored a run and drove in a run to pace the Lions attack. Storms took a 1-1 pitch over the left centerfield fence in the eighth inning for the Lions first long ball of the season.
Brandon Triantos also was 2-for-4 for the Lions, while
Jeff Yordy,
Noah Beebe,
Julian Cimino,
Tanner Brescancine and
Jesse Fikslin each picked up a hit for Albright.
Trevor Mastria started for the Lions and allowed only two earned runs and struck out seven batters in five innings of work.
Lebanon Valley, which improved to 7-10 overall and 1-3 in MAC Commonwealth play, was led by catcher Marshal Kiessling who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. Ross Drawbaugh and Philip Berry also drove in two runs each for the Dutchmen.
Michael Houseal picked up the win for Lebanon Valley as he worked into the eighth inning and allowed just three runs.
Albright, which fell to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Yordy led off the inning with a single and stole second base. He advanced to third on a groundout and scored when Beebe singled to left giving the Lions an early 1-0 lead.
Lebanon Valley tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the top of the second inning and then tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning to increase the lead to 4-1.
The Dutchmen scored two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth inning to push the lead to 10-1.
Albright answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
After Storms led off the inning with a home run, Cimino hit a one-out infield single. With two outs, Cimino advanced to second on a wild pitch and came home to score when Fikslin lined a single to left to cut the lead to 10-3.
The Lions tacked on a run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Yordy walked and later scored on a Lebanon Valley fielding error.
The two teams will continue the series on Friday (March 25) with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. in Annville, Pa.
