FREDERICK, Md. --
Noah Beebe had two hits, including his first home run of the season, and drove in two runs but Hood swept a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader on Saturday at Nymeo Field.
The Blazers completed the three-game sweep of the Lions with a 15-1 victory in game one and a 5-3 win in game two.
Beebe was 2-for-3 in game one including his first homer of the season to account for the Lions only run of the game. He also added an RBI in game two.
Brooks Warrenfeltz had five hits and drove in six runs in the doubleheader to lead the Blazers to the sweep. Chris Shriver also had five hits and drove in five runs in the two games.
Hood, which improved to 11-12 overall and 4-5 in conference play, scored all 15 of its runs in the first four innings of game one.
Beebe and
Julian Cimino each had two hits to lead Albright in game one, while
Jeff Yordy and
Zach Krause added a hit apiece.
Tyler Keller worked 3.0 innings of scoreless relief for the Lions as he allowed two hits and struck out three batters.
Albright, which dropped to 3-16 overall and 0-9 in conference play, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two.
Yordy began the the game by reaching on an error and he advanced to second on a groundout by
Bryan Brubaker. After stealing third base, Yordy came in to score when Cimino singled giving Albright an early 1-0 lead.
Hood wasted little time in erasing the Albright lead. Cam Esposito singled to lead off the Blazers first inning and scored one batter later when Warrenfeltz lifted a home run giving Hood a 2-1 lead. The Blazers extended the lead to 3-1 when Josh Gall homered later in the inning.
Hood pushed the lead to 4-1 with a run in the third inning, but Albright would rally in the top of the fourth inning.
With one out, Tanner brescancine singled and advanced to second when
Austin Roth followed with a single. The Lions trimmed the lead to 4-2 when
Jack Shevlin singled to score Brescancine.
Hood pushed the lead back to three runs with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Albright would threaten in the top of the seventh inning. The Lions scored a run when Beebe drew a bases-loaded walk to force in
Jesse Fikslin to cut the lead to 5-3, but Albright could not do further damage.
The Lions return to action on Monday (April 4) when it hosts Delaware Valley in a non-conference game at Kelchner Field at 4 p.m.
