Brianne Long and
Corinne Garuffe each had two hits, but Albright dropped a doubleheader to Stevenson in the Lions regular season finale on Saturday at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
Stevenson won game one 5-0 and captured the second game 3-0.
With the two losses, Albright finished the MAC Commonwealth schedule with a 7-9 record and in a tie for fifth place in the league standings with Arcadia and Lebanon Valley. The league rules stipulate the first tiebreaker is record amongst the tied teams. Arcadia posted a 3-1 record against the two other teams, while Lebanon Valley was 2-2 and Albright was 1-3 giving the fifth spot in the postseason tournament to Arcadia.
Long and Garuffe each had two hits to lead Albright, while
Sammi O'Connor,
Stephanie Pomante,
Madison Bear and
Kelly Cembrale each had a hit for the Lions.
Stevenson, which improved to 15-23 overall and 8-8 in conference play, got a pair of strong pitching performances. Brooke Steinbach allowed just two hits in game one in recording the shutout, while Jasmyn Ogletree allowed six hits in posting a shutout in game two.
Molly Hoyt paced the Mustangs offense in game one with three RBI, while Emily Soller had two RBI in the second game.
Steinbach and O'Connor were locked in a pitcher's duel in game one until Stevenson pushed across five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Stevenson scored all three of its runs in the second game in the bottom of the third inning.
O'Connor came in relief in game two and shut down the Mustangs over the final 3.1 innings. She allowed just one hit and finished with four strikeouts. O'Connor had a combined 11 strikeouts in the two games.
Albright concludes the regular season with a 24-16 overall record and a 7-9 mark in the MAC Commonwealth.
