Albright Postseason Run Ends in MAC Commonwealth Semifinals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Junior Cam Cetrone scored a pair of goals to break the Albright single-season record, but 10th-ranked Stevenson peppered Albright with 75 shots on its way to a 21-4 victory over the Lions on Wednesday in the semifinals of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament at Mustang Stadium.

The two goals upped Cetrone's season total to 51, which topped the previous record of 50 set by Ryan Turner in 2013. He also finished the season with 71 points, which ranks as the third-highest total in Albright history.

Sophomore goalie Ryan Aler made a career-high 23 saves for the Lions, which ranks as the second-highest total in school history. His 23 saves increased his season total to 191, which broke the Albright single-season record of 183 set by Jordan DiZenzo in 2014.

Albright, under the direction of first-year head coach Jamie Lockard, opened the season with a 1-6 record but closed the season by winning five of its final eight games to qualify for the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The Lions advanced to the semifinals of the tournament following its opening-round victory over Lebanon Valley on Monday.

The Lions ran into a buzz saw in top-seeded Stevenson on Wednesday. The Mustangs raced out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and held a 14-1 lead at the intermission.

Albright, which concluded its season with a 7-10 record, also got goals from James Egleston and Kenny Pastore. Derek Stump added three assists for the Lions and finished the season with 35, which stands as the third-best total in Albright single-season history.

Stevenson reeled off seven straight goals to start the game before Cetrone took a feed from Stump to get the Lions on the scoreboard with 2:12 to play in the first quarter.

The Mustangs responded by scoring the next seven goals to take a 14-1 lead into the intermission.

Cetrone opened the third quarter with a goal at the 12:58 mark, but Stevenson closed the quarter with a 4-0 run to take an 18-2 lead after three quarters.

Egleston and Pastore scored fourth-quarter goals for Albright.
