READING, Pa – Albright used a pair of first half goals and a stingy defense to defeat Pitt Greensburg 2-0 in a non-conference match up Sunday afternoon in Shirk Stadium. The win is the second straight for the Lions, improving their record to 2-3 in 2016.
Albright wasted little time taking control of the match. Senior
Dylan Shipe gave the Lions a 1-0 lead when she collected a rebound off a shot from junior
Crissy Terraces and beat the Bobcat goalkeeper just under 11 minutes into the game. The goal was Shipe's first of 2016.
The Lions pushed their lead to 2-0 in the 30th minute. Off a corner kick from sophomore
Erica Bross, Terraces found the back of the net for her second goal of the season and a two-goal Albright advantage.
Pitt-Greensburg (1-4) did not manage a shot until the 32nd minute of play, and had just two in the half. Sophomore keeper
Alexis Tunney was equal to the task both times, recording two saves in the half.
Albright continued to control play in the second half. The Lions again held the Bobcats to just two shots, with Tunney making one save, to produce their first clean sheet of the season. Albright totaled 10 shots in the second half to finish with a 19-4 shots advantage in the game.
Albright will look to run its winning streak to three games when Immaculata comes to Reading Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
